Hello:
Just checking to see whether this is an active website again.
I'm also wondering if Frank is teaching or leading any workshops during the summer of 2007--and if so, where and when?
I just finished this book and the review can be found here
Brilliant Book. Highly recommended.
i am checking out this blog for future use. Frank; your book 'the spiral of memory and belonging' has come to me at a very sychronistic time, thank you i wll explain later.
In brief...
Thank you, Charlene, for the very kind review. I appreciate your thoughts and impressions a great deal.
Thank you, also, Vela Giri, for your thoughts about "Spiral." It is a book that really "came through" and, though I cannot take credit for the full scope of its energy, I appreciate your words.
Karen...at the moment I am not planning any workshops or retreats. In January 2005, I found that I had to really step back from the work for a while--to deal with ailing family members, and to re-group my own energies a bit. However, if anything develops along these lines, it will certainly be posted here.
Deep Peace,
Frank
Frank,
I am running out the door to pick up your new book! Congrates.
Be Well!
I just finished A Mist-Filled Path, and I have this feeling of coming home after a long treacherous departure. I have lived with the idea (for 33 years) that I am "weird" because my own spirituality never seemed to mesh with the rest of the world's religious practices and ideas. I was so excited as I read every chapter because I could not believe that there are others in the world who feel the same as I do- who have had relationships with trees, and who "feel" things about our earth, and about our western culture in ways that everyone else seems to be asleep to. I feel so blessed and refreshed!
THANK YOU for giving me this joy and feeling that I am not alone- I am not the strange little girl that I was tricked into believing I was. I have a much better sense of wholeness, spiritually, and I can't wait to read the newest book.
Frank,
Many spiritual paths I have wandered, trying to seek out understanding. But - I have to say I've never felt so connected as I did when I read "Into the Mist Filled Path". My travels have also taken me from my Father who is a Southern Baptist Minister, to understanding my Cherokee heritage(Eastern Tennessee and Georgia), to where I am now in the Canku Luta - Lakota (here in Colorado)and yet that Celtic longing from my Welsh ancestors calls to me so deeply that it aches sometimes. Thank you for publishing that book. Its nice to know I'm not alone. Once a year I do make it back to Avalon and it restores my soul. Now, on the edge of my Hanbleciya, this book will give me much to pray about because you have helped me put my finger upon what that connection is between Lakota and Celtic. I've just started reading Spiral Memory and am looking foward to what treasures I might find there as well.
Blessings -
Rhonda
hi frank --
for some reason i always read the acknowledgements...and when i opened your book (MFPath), passed along to me by a fellow irishwoman, you mentioned some nerdland/northland professors. i went to school there also (80-84ish), and it was a real treat to see that you did as well. kind of a going home, in a way.
and your book is the same. just want to send a wave of gratitude and hello from a fellow northlander. sorry to hear you are not doing workshops at this time, but good luck with all your changes. i'm really grateful i came across you and your book. maureen
Dear Mr. MacEowen,
I am seeking any reference at all to the existence of an "Oran Mor" myth of creation. Can you point me in the direction of one?
Sincerely,

Frank,
Just found this site and felt like saying thank you for your writings. In March and April of 2004, I was reading The Mist Filled Path while on a retreat/rotation...one morning, I received the call that my cousin, Moira Haggerty, had died...too young...the writngs of yours that I held in my backpack were very soothing at that time. I was many states away from her, but was lucky to be in the middle of an old growth redwood forest and was able to take time for some personal ceremony, briefly before our day started...really, the day was blessed both with your thoughts, as well as the guest we shared space/time with. Lewis Mehl Madrona had come for the day to share some of his teachings with us...a bunch of seeking medical students at the time...as I received the phone call a few minutes before I met him, my tears were still too fresh to be hidden...he offered our group of twenty five a ceremony that evening to honor my cousin, Moira...powerful things happened...your writings are painted on my soul from that day (as well as underlined, highlighted, etc on paper...) and will always be meshed with the ceremony and other teachings of that day...thank you...and this week I have discovered your two other books...finding myself hungry to read again, after jumping through a 3 year toxic loop of residency work hours and ready to begin again...focusing on health--spiritually, mentally, and physically...thank you for taking the time to put more down on paper during the last few year...a very welcome surprise at the book store...Marcia Haggerty
Well mo Chara, how are you keeping? Drop me a mail at conlethosullivan@yahoo.co.uk
Dear Mr. Maceowen,
Thank you, thank you for your lovely books, and for putting words to many things I, too, lived as a child and am returning to. I found your writings through those of Tom Cowan, and after it became clearer to me that strong Celtic symbols and deities have been coming to me in my journeys from the beginning; I just didn't know where to look until you gave me the map.
Thank you , thank you, thank you for writing The Mist-Filled Path. I experienced a sort of homecoming as I read it; a "falling into place." However, I have a bit of soul-work to do and was wondering if you could recommend someone to help me on my journey in the Seattle area (I live in Duvall). There are so many practioners out there, with so many different "specialties" (some even give discounts and coupons!!) that I do not know who to trust with something as delicate as my splintered soul. :) Just thought I would ask if you knew of anyone safe :) I hope that your "stepping back" and regrouping is helping, and you are finding light and centeredness. Blessings to you on your quest.
Amy
I have studied the Celtic path to enlightenment since 1989, when at a tender age of 19 I almost ended mine. It was the Druidic faith that brought me back into alignment. Since those days, so long ago, I have found my solace in the trees and rivers of my home.
I am writing my own blog in hopes that others who struggled as I did.
Your books continue to be a source of strength to me, one day I shall be as learned as you.
Hi Frank,
I just read your book "The Celtic Way Of Seeing". Fab!
Thanks for it. Seems like one I will read again shortly to extract more via some journaling and turning some of it into practice.
Dave
Frank,
I was drawn your book "The Mist-Filled Path" a few months ago and it was incredibly resonant for me. Just 3 months ago, an amazing teacher appeared physically in my life and locality. Last night I embarked on my first successful shamanic journey, and have met my first animal guide. I was able to "let go" and let things happen as they should because of specific inspirations I received from TMFP. I look forward to reading your next offering, which I see is now available. Thank you so kindly for approaching the subject of shamanism from a Western/Celtic perspective, which I have found I can relate to on a very deep level. Another soul is awakening, and your words and experiences are helping to birth her. :-) All blessings to you and yours!
The Mist-Filled Path has crossed my path once more.If the wind doesn't whisper to pass it along again,I will finish it.I hope you will once again teach,I will be there waiting to learn another life journey.....always...mary
greetings-
on the back of the mist-filled path your bio says you facilitate retreats and work one on one with clients. could you please send me more information on this work?
many thanks and many blessings

Frank,
I have recently read "The Celtic Way of Seeing" and have found it to be very intriguing. As an ecologist, I have always considered the earth to be part of myself. With that being said, I agree with you that most people these days create discord with the very thing that sustains us, the earth. However, I feel the underlying “why” we are out of discord is likely more than simply being out of balance with one of the other directions. I feel it oftentimes stems from something much deeper. I feel you mentioned it in your book, but didn’t take into account the likelihood of the very deep hold it has within. And this, I feel is caused by the complete disconnection most have to where they live.
As many, especially in the United States, have not resided in an area for ten years, let alone a lifetime or a family over generations, they have lost their “sense of place”. To me this is mainly due to the fact that there is simply no connection to the area of the earth they inhabit, they have no history with it. I suppose this could be attributed to a disconnection in the East of householding, however, I feel it is almost a complete disconnection from the central area, our core.
Possibly I am restating something I overlooked in the book, but wanted to share my views if not.
Thank you for your teachings, they were truly insightful.

Frank,
I read both the Spiral of Memory and Belonging and the Celtic Way of Seeing in the past few weeks. Thank you so much for your efforts. They have rung true with me and my beliefs. I have had experiences similar to some of those you have described and it is dificult to find others with a common history to compare notes with. As of late I have done a great deal of reading about the Tuatha De Dannan - The Shinning People. I have visited Ireland, I still have relatives there, and enjoyed that tugging sensation you spoke of while meditating at a Faery Circle near Cong, County Mayo. It would be a honor to talk with you someday! I expect the energy would be quite high!
Thanks again.

Dear Frank,
I came across The Mist-Filled Path at a local store in 2004 when searching for another book. I remember putting it down twice, but after contemplating its place on the shelf for the third time, I bought it. That book kept pulling on my soul – an ancient call from another time and place locked within me. I had reached a turning point in my journey to reclaim myself and my relationships with Mother Nature, the Sidhe, and the Otherworld.
As a child, I spent countless hours exploring the woods of oak, beech, maple, and birch near my home in Connecticut. There was one tree – a red oak – where I would go for afternoon naps. I had dreams about fields dotted with sacred standing stones; of old-growth forests teeming with wolves, bears, and cougars; and of oceans alive with the songs of seals, whales, and dolphins. I had visions of the Shining Ones. I loved the mist and twilight hours. I often wrote about my experiences.
My maternal grandmother, Mary Rosalita McConville, held a special place in my heart. I do not know much about her heritage, except that her father hailed from County Armagh, Northern Ireland, and her mother from Scotland. She had an uncanny connection with Earth and all relations, abilities to “see” people with no strings attached, an impish sense of humor, and a love for life. She instilled in me a fondness for books, poetry, storytelling, music, and Brighid. She disrobed from her body and crossed over December 2001.
Her wild spirit is evident in my own DNA structure, yet I squelched my inner power to conform to societal pressure. Why be different? But like a wolf in an increasingly smaller and smaller cage, I was losing myself within an illusion. I still heard a call deep within me from the Sidhe, Ancestors, and Earth…to come home.
I am now 28. Using Tom Cowan’s description of his Celtic shamanism program, I have been walking a path, a “forest tradition” steeped in “seership, shapeshifting, poetry, and participation in the life of the elements of Nature". I was once told to never pursue poetry as a hobby because I lacked the ability to write well. I now weave my partnership and co-creation with the Mysterious Ones into poetry and storytelling. I have also returned to the woods.
Thank you for sharing yourself in your writing. I have been inspired by your open heart.
Blessings,
Alicia-Marie
Dear Frank
I am currently reading Ths Celtic Way of Seeing, and it really explains allot about Celtic spirituality to me . I have ran across the spiritual wheel in many Druidism books and material but never really understood it until I read this book. Thanks!
P.S: Is their any Emails campaigns against the super highway in crouching to close to Tara
Dear Frank,
I'm wondering if the elements are associated with directions on the Spirit Wheel.
Blessings,
Angela
I just wanted to say thank you for The Mist-Filled Path. I'm currently reading it and like others have said before me, it feels like a homecoming to me.
It warms my heart to know that others feels as I do spiritually. For so long I felt like I was the only one.
Peace
I don't know if you're still receiving messages from this site, Frank, but I truly want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for The Mist-Filled Path, which I am reading currently. You have a way of speaking to people's souls, and it is an honor to have such an incredible, caring teacher.
I wasn't sure how else to get in contact with you, as both your personal, listed websites are down, so I apologize for the length of this comment in advance.
I have a very dear friend who is in a very dark place at the moment. She is genetically predisposed to both Sciatica and Psoriatic arthritis, and she believes that she is being "punished" for thinking light of her mother, who has both. She doesn't think much of herself, and she has a very deep-seated fear of doctors and modern medicine--she doesn't want to be glued to a doctor for the rest of her life. She is a seeker, and wants to follow the path her soul is longing for.
I have sent her a copy of the same book I am reading now, in hope that it will help her some, and I am praying for her health (spiritually and physically), but I'm unsure of what else can be done for her, if anything.
I was wondering if you would have any advice for her, or anything I could do to ease her fears and help her to gain confidence in herself.
I just finished your book The Mist Filled Path, Thank you, it impressed me and now I carry it in my soul forever more. I just picked up The Celtic Way of Seeing, I will devour that one too. Kansha, Aho! Blessings
Tamara

Frank,
I just finished reading The Celtic Way of Seeing and A Mist Filled Path. It has been a truly beautiful experience to see a path for myself ahead after a very difficult time as a pastor in the denomination of your parents. I am seeking a new way and vocation for myself. I would be interested in having conversation with you about vision questing or seeking wisdom on vocation. I would love to hear from you.

Greetings!
I just finished "The Spiral of Memory and Belonging" last night.
I highly recommend it to anyone on their own "Mist-Filled Path"!
I had a strange feeling one day and went to Seven Stars (a bookstore in Central Square - Cambridge, MA) during my lunch break one day in May.
Never been to the store and managed to go directly to the section and shelf that had "Spiral" sitting there.
I immediately bought it and jumped the Red Line back to Kendall Square.
I'm now re-energized to complete my dual Irish citizenship process and will be planning a trip to County Roscommon to "re-connect" with the land...
Thank you Frank! Your book has been a gift, and I cannot wait to read "The Mist-Filled Path".
Many Blessings to you and your family!
